Saab 2000 Overview
The Saab 2000 is a high-speed twin-turboprop regional airliner developed by Swedish manufacturer Saab for short- and medium-haul passenger services. It typically accommodates around 50 passengers in a single-aisle cabin, although seating arrangements can vary between operators and charter configurations. Its relatively compact capacity and regional operating flexibility make it suitable for corporate groups, sports teams, event travel, workforce movements and private group charters. The Saab 2000 is particularly relevant for direct regional journeys where the capacity of a larger airliner is unnecessary.
Aircraft Features
Range and Efficiency
Powered by Rolls-Royce AE 2100A turboprop engines, the Saab 2000 offers a maximum range of around 2,870 km, providing useful coverage for regional and short-haul charter routes across Europe. Its high-speed turboprop design and aerodynamically efficient airframe combine relatively fast regional travel with efficient fuel use, making it practical for group flights between major cities and smaller regional airports.
Passenger Comfort and Layout
The Saab 2000 typically seats around 50 passengers in a 2-1 configuration, providing a comfortable regional cabin with fewer seats per row than larger commercial aircraft. Its single aisle allows practical movement during the flight, while the aircraft’s moderate capacity supports organised boarding and efficient disembarkation. It is particularly suitable for corporate groups, sports teams and regional charter operations.
Cabin Storage and Amenities
The Saab 2000 offers overhead storage for smaller hand luggage, with larger items carried in dedicated baggage compartments. Depending on the operator and charter configuration, amenities may include catering service, cabin entertainment and customised branding elements. For corporate delegations, sports teams or event groups, tailored seating arrangements and dedicated passenger zones may also be available to suit specific charter requirements.
Flight Operations and Safety
The Saab 2000 combines a well-equipped flight deck with reliable systems designed for efficient high-speed turboprop operations. Its proven regional platform supports consistent performance, quick turnarounds and dependable scheduling across short- and medium-haul routes. These qualities make it suitable for group charters, corporate movements and multi-sector itineraries where punctuality, operational flexibility and an efficient flight experience are important.
Benefits of Chartering a Saab 2000 for Group Travel
The Saab 2000 is a practical and efficient solution for regional group travel, typically accommodating around 50 passengers. It is well suited to corporate delegations, sports teams, event charters, incentive groups, and private shuttle operations where coordinated schedules and direct access to regional destinations are important.
For charter clients, the Saab 2000 helps simplify logistics by keeping passengers together and reducing dependence on scheduled connections. Its high-speed turboprop performance supports efficient point-to-point travel across short- and medium-range sectors, while its ability to serve many regional airports can bring passengers closer to their final destination. Depending on the operator, cabin arrangements may provide additional legroom or tailored onboard service.
The Saab 2000 is a preferred choice when timing, privacy, and efficiency are essential, offering practical capacity and flexible routing for regional group movements.
How much does it cost to charter a Saab 2000?
Prices to charter a commuter aircraft generally start from around €13,000 for a one-hour flight for smaller aircraft in the category, and can reach around €45,000 for a one-hour flight for larger commuter aircraft. The final charter price depends on factors such as flight distance, airport and handling fees, aircraft availability, passenger count, onboard services, seasonal demand and positioning requirements.
Pricing is typically higher during peak travel periods, weekends, major events and high-demand months. Commuter aircraft are often a practical solution for short regional routes, corporate travel, event transfers and small group movements.
