The Cessna Citation Excel was announced in October 1994 and made its maiden flight on 29 February 1996. The Excel evolved into the Citation XLS (deliveries from 2004) and then the XLS+ (first deliveries in 2008), with the 560XL series continuing to be a cornerstone of Citations in service.
