Beechcraft Denali Overview

The Beechcraft Denali is a next-generation single-engine turboprop aircraft developed by Textron Aviation under the Beechcraft brand. Designed as a clean-sheet aircraft rather than an adaptation of an earlier model, the Denali was created to compete directly with aircraft such as the Pilatus PC-12 and Daher TBM series. It combines turboprop efficiency with a spacious cabin, advanced avionics, and modern systems. Positioned for owner-operators, private travellers, and corporate missions, the Denali offers strong payload capability, short-field performance, and low operating costs. Simply Jet recommends the Denali for clients seeking turboprop versatility, modern technology, and premium comfort for regional and medium-range missions.

Aircraft Features

Range and Performance

The Beechcraft Denali is designed to offer a maximum range of approximately 1,600 nautical miles (≈ 2,963 km) with four passengers, enabling nonstop routes such as London–Athens or Miami–Dallas. It is expected to cruise at around 285 knots true airspeed (≈ 528 km/h) and operate up to a service ceiling of 31,000 ft (≈ 9,449 m). Powered by the new GE Catalyst turboprop engine, producing around 1,300 shaft horsepower, the aircraft is engineered for strong climb performance, efficient fuel burn, and reduced maintenance requirements. Short takeoff and landing capability will allow access to smaller regional airports and private airfields.

Cabin Comfort and Configuration

The Denali features one of the largest cabins in the single-engine turboprop category, with seating for up to 9 occupants, including the pilot. The flat-floor cabin is designed for executive comfort, with large windows, premium seating, and a modular interior suitable for passenger, cargo, or mixed-use missions. Cabin dimensions are approximately 16 ft 9 in (≈ 5.11 m) in length, 5 ft 3 in (≈ 1.6 m) in width, and 4 ft 10 in (≈ 1.5 m) in height, providing a spacious and comfortable environment for its class. Wide cargo doors and flexible layouts further enhance practicality.

Onboard Amenities

The Beechcraft Denali is designed with modern passenger comfort in mind, featuring executive-style seating, fold-out work tables, climate control, USB and power outlets, and optional connectivity systems. A fully enclosed lavatory at the rear of the cabin is planned, which is uncommon in this category. The large baggage area and generous internal volume make it suitable for both business travel and leisure trips requiring luggage or equipment. Its low cabin noise levels and refined interior finishes aim to position it at the premium end of the turboprop market.

Technology and Flight Deck

The Denali is equipped with the Garmin G3000 avionics suite, offering touchscreen flight management, synthetic vision, weather radar, and integrated autopilot systems. Its defining technical feature is the GE Catalyst engine, the first clean-sheet turboprop engine of the modern era, incorporating full authority digital engine control (FADEC) and advanced materials for improved efficiency. These systems are designed to reduce pilot workload, enhance safety, and lower operating costs compared with legacy turboprop platforms.

Beechcraft Denali Certification

The Beechcraft Denali program was launched in 2015 at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh as Textron Aviation’s entry into the modern single-engine turboprop market. The prototype first flew in November 2021, beginning an extensive certification campaign. Entry into service has been delayed due to the certification timeline of the GE Catalyst engine, with FAA certification and first deliveries now expected after completion of the final testing phases. Once certified, the Denali will become Beechcraft’s flagship single-engine turboprop aircraft.
